Box in half an hour

Hi all,
Today I thought I'd share with you how to make a quick box. My children are going to a birthday party and as a gift I brought some hair accessories. There wasn't any nice boxes to seen as I was very short on time. It's been a busy week. So I thought I'd make a box using the crafter's companion boxer board.

The most difficult bit is working out the size of card you need. Above is a break down of how you need to work it. The first line is the size of the box. You then have to multiply the depth of the box 2 inches by 2. You then add this to each of the box measurements. You also add a 1/4 inch to make it fit nicely. The final measurement will e the size of the card you need to cut.

Here is the card scored at 2 inches. On the boxer for the base you read from right to left using the bottom numbers. For the lid you read left to right using the top numbers. You need to make sure the card is at the edge of where you are reading from.

I then cut alternative lines for the corners. I then taped them using Scor tape and stuck it together.

For the lid I wanted to make a decorative boarder around. So after I scored using the lid side of the board, I then moved it to the other and scored at six inches using the top numbers.

Here's the box assembled. It took less than 1/2 hour to make the box. Decorating it would take the longest time. I hope you enjoyed this quick tutorial.

Thank you Sheila for having me today over at She's a sassy lady.

Just Inspirational Challenge 3

Hi all,

Here's my DT project for Just Inspirational challenges. Our sponsor this week is Crafty Sentiments. This is one of their fab designs. I coloured the image in with my promarkers. The clock is a Tim Holtz die, which is a new addition to my collection.

It's a fab picture to use as inspiration, go and take a look. Let me know what you think

Colour combinations book

Hi all,

Today I though I’d show you what I have done to the book that I made in a earlier post. Click Here to take you to that post.

Since making it I’ve made a few adjustments.

First I have now stuck the pages in. I used my ATG gun and put tape down the spine of the pages and stuck them in. This just stops them from slipping.

Here is what it looks like now. I will still use the ribbon as a decoration.

Now for the inside pages. First I stamped the same image on every other page. It’s every other page as the pens will come through the back. I will at a later date stamp the image on a separate piece of card and stick it in to cover the colouring that comes through. I chose an image that had lots of hair.

Here are two pages coloured in with Promarkers. I’ve made notes down the side of the colours I’ve used. I will on other pages do different skin and hair combinations on the same image to see what goes better with what hair.

I hope this helps and you have a go at making your own book. I will be also making notes for my copics and my Prisma color pencils.

Thank you to Pam @ The Bugbytes for having me as a designer today.

Just Inspirational Challenges

Hi all,

Today is Just Inspirational Challenges first weekly challenge. I'm lucky to be a part of a fabulous Design Team. This week we are sponsored by Bugaboo . Our Dt each chose a stamp based on this photo

I decided on my stamped image to use different shades of glitter. I drew over the lines with glue and then put the glitter on. I did all the gold bits glued and then glittered. I then moved onto the next colour of glitter.

Each challenge lasts one week. The new challenge is posted on Thursdays. There are some fab challenges in the coming weeks with some fab prizes. I hope you come and join in our challenges.
